Why the need for all that bad stuff in ciggarettes?

if the nicitine is what gets the smoker addicted, then why put all that harmful substances in? it tastes bad, and it Kills you. they would make more money if they put natural elements and flavors along with the nicitine. no one would get cancer so they wouldnt die quick and they would keep buying more ciggarettes and they wouldnt get sued. i am not a smoker but if they just did that there would be less deaths caused to cancer. why the need for carbon monoxide?, tar? and all of those harmful substances if its the nicitine that brings the sales in? make the ciggarettes taste good. i bet they would make a ton mor emoney and have less deaths on their back. any thoughts?
