Baby with Allergies... what do I do?!?

bless your heart!! shaving your cat...that is a loving mommy. trying to get the best of both worlds! lol! ;-) just try to get rid of the hair. keep cleaning and dont let him near them. maybe you could really deep clean his room and the living room and try to keep the cats out of those rooms. i am a peds nurse and the crappy thing that happens sometimes with prolonged exposure to allergens is asthma. so be on the look out for breathing problems too. i guess that is the nurse in me. maybe when you get to california you can keep the cats outside from the get go and keep the house hair free. a fresh start. also...i don't' remember how old they have to be maybe 2yr or so...but they can do allergy testing on the little guy and see if it is really even the cats to begin with. hopefully you can keep the cats but if he still doesn't tolerate them then you are increasing his chances for more serious allergic reactions in the future and might have to give them to a family member or something. good luck :)
